I'm Featured at The St. Louis Bloggers Guild - Be Sure to Visit!

Ahh, the benefits of the grouping of talent. It's never failed me.

Whether it's the conglomeration of what has become The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network, taking one good thing and surrounding it with other good things always provides you with something greater. Such is the case with The St. Louis Bloggers Guild.

The St. Louis Bloggers Guild is a young group of talented, busy, thought-filled citizens that have taken their thoughts, efforts, and desires to electronic page and banded together to provide education, knowledge and assistance to those in the Guild.

This week, they're featuring me in their "5 Minutes with Mike" segment that you can find via the link below.

Be sure to chime in with comments and send the article to your friends. I'm always interested in ensuring that the organizations and people that I work with get a larger footprint and remember - those that have good things that group them together with other good things make the whole greater. Enjoy the read!

5 minutes with Mike - From The St. Louis Bloggers Guild Website:

One can’t help but admire St. Louis Bloggers Guild member Mike Wilkerson’s energy and enthusiasm for social media. These qualities carry into his blog, Grab the Wheel and his popular podcast 2GuysTalking. Check out this podcasts expert’s site and tune in to hear Mike’s and his co-host Tony Lovasco’s take on shows like 24, Terminator and an always-growing variety of cultural topics now!

Do you have any tips or advice for other podcasters out there?

The most vital piece of advice I can give podcasters is similar to another movie character from my childhood, YODA. When it comes to podcasting, “do, or do not – there is no try.” That’s not a euphemism, it’s a way to live in just about everything that you do.

TwitBookSpacerPReSSLinkBlogaxoriffic!

I’m trying to remember when I WASN’T telling people what I think about – SOMETHING.

When I was 11 years old, I can remember wanting to create my very own talk show. To be able to grab a topic, audience and bestow not only my perspective about what I’ve seen, heard, experienced, but also to collect the viewpoint of others who share or have a different opinion than I do.

While I’ve been an actor and artist since I was a kid, being able to take the artists, creative talent and turn it into my own stage didn’t really begin until 2004. I’ve been blogging about a variety of things since 2004. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to surround myself with a continually growing cast of people that provide perspective on things that are new, exciting and something we want to tell everyone about.

Over the years we’ve been exposed to a variety of tools that make telling people about “what we’re talking about” a lot easier and I wanted to make sure to share how we’re using “New Media” tool a wide array of tools have been invented to convey information to the largest amount of people possible.

Read on below and see how I’m using these great tools to increase the footprint of my own personal presence and that of The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network.

The Blog: I can’t emphasize enough how important having a “blog” has been for me and for The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network. The ability to chronicle what I experience, what my network is doing, and how other people can quickly find out anything you care to share at a chance and look at the history. While there’s always benefit in having something “custom”, anyone can set up and start their own blog in less than 5 minutes now. It’s a powerful part of any presence online and truly can act as a “core” of information transfer. The networking ability alone that a blog (especially when you join cool people in The St. Louis Bloggers Guild).

The Ultimate Fighter Season Finale - THIS SATURDAY!

Those of you that have yet to take the plunge into Mixed Martial Arts have a true treat THIS WEEKEND as season 9 of SPIKEs The Ultimate Fighter comes to a conclusion in what is listed as one of the "best available-for-free fights" ever! It's the Season 9 finale of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike and you are officially invited to participate in round-by-round online review action at SavageScience.Com! Check out the review of this week's episode below and follow the link to SavageScience.Com to learn more about the fun this weekend. Have a great weekend and remember to tell us what YOU thought of this week's ULTIMATE FIGHTER! -Mike2GuysTalking

Viewing Date: 6-18-2009
Show Title: Ultimate Fighter United States V United Kingdom: Week 12
Network: SpikeHD
Reviewed By: Mike Wilkerson

Just when we thought it was time for The Ultimate Fighter Finale - suddenly there's one more week of fists-a-flyin' action, providing us all but ONE of the series of fighters that will compete in the "series finale" that airs this Saturday. Ahh, the always-welcome double-dose of Mixed Martial Arts action in the Wilkerson household. This episode delivers some outstanding fight action, undeniable heart, and some of the series most vital and heartfelt quotes. Read on as we review week 12 of season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter on SPIKE for The Savage Science!

As with many of my online reviews, I'll be reviewing this episode in a "stream of consciousness" format, giving you essentially what I'm thinking as the show airs. I encourage everyone to send feedback in regard to any of the points below and let's use this opportunity sounding-off point to tell us what YOU think about this year's Ultimate Fighter season.

-- Hanging out with the guys: Something that we've seen little of this year (which is a good thing) is the fighters just "living". In this episode, we see them collecting in the common areas and the patio to cook a feast of fighter proportions featuring ribs, steaks and more to help keep the hungry, blood-thirsty teams fed yet still "hungry" for victory.

Leather and Flesh Collide - It's not what you think :)

Ahh, the satisfying sounds of leather and flesh striking. It's not some racy movie I'm watching - it's what's featured inside of THIS week's "The Ultimate Fighter" review for SavageScience.Com and note - it's my first "10 Skully" review EVER. Check it out by logging on via the link below and remember to tell me what YOU think so I can use your comments, thoughts and opinions in my season-ending "ALL FAN INPUT" review. Let's hear it!

It's week 11 of Spike's "The Ultimate Fighter" and it's never been clearer - the faster they get to the fights and discussion of them, the more satisfied I am. There are currently several reality/real-time fight shows in production via a variety of networks and I hope that ALL of them take into account the desires of people like me who want to get the details, and get straight to the action. The "drama" that sells so many other avenues of storytelling that Spike lost BIG with last year with The Ultimate Fighter needs to simply go away. Get us into the game like we start THIS 11th week of The Ultimate Fighter for SavageScience.Com! Let's get to this week's review!

-- The fights are set via voiceover from Mike Rowe: I cannot tell you how much I love just having Mike Rowe set up the fights and we're essentially into the first series of discussion about the fights, the comparison of training between the two teams, and eventually into fisticuffs. This is how ALL shows about fighting should be managed and they help to craft one of the best episodes EVER.

2GuysTalking Joins 2 Great Chambers of Commerce!

We've been researching where best to stake our information claim in regard to local chambers of commerce and we wanted to thank all of the surrounding area chambers for sending on the information about their organizations. We were very pleased to see how eager businesses, organizations and the chambers themselves are about podcasting, new/social media, and unique solutions that 2GuysTalking offers.

We've recently become members of The Lake St. Louis & Dardenne Prarie Chamber of Commerce, and The Wentzville Chamber of Commerce, both in St. Charles County. We hope to be able to widen our reach, our literal "networking" power for the network, and to help businesses all over our area create the best and most innovative podcast, new/social media and creative communication solutions possible.

Take a moment to visit both of the websites for the Chambers listed above and consider joining them or your local chamber of commerce. The benefits are undeniable and we'd be happy to help explain some of the reasons why we decided to join these two!

Again, our thanks to all of the chambers in our area that sent along details, answered our calls and questions. It's great to see such a vibrant tapestry of hungry businesses and we cannot wait to help them all.

Please do take a moment to contact us about your needs via our contact form online and have a great day!

The Ultimate Fighter Review - Week 10

It's another wonderful Wednesday evening as I begin the recording of this week's The Ultimate Fighter on Spike! It's all come down to the 10th week which unveils the first round of semi final bouts for The Ultimate Fighter! There are some really great fights waiting to happen and I'm curious if my match-ups but more importantly my picks will make their way to Las Vegas to stand in the ring via the finale! We'll find out about those and much more as I begin my SavageScience.Com-inspired review of the televised Mixed Martial Arts showcase right here!

The Ultimate Fighter Review - Week 9

Season 9 cues up via my DVR as I settle in for an evening with my wife of viewing one of our many favorite fighting-based retrospectives, "The Ultimate Fighter" on SPIKE! This week's episode provides all of us something to remember - the real-life peril of "expectation." In a world where the news is rife with diagnoses of life that churn the stomach, and television programs slowly turn fantasy into a skewed reality, it's great to see episodes of a program like this one presented this week for Spike's "The Ultimate Fighter." Why, you ask? I'll dialogue that more below as we take on the review of the 8th week of The Ultimate fighter for SavageScience.Com!

The Ultimate Fighter Review - Week 8

As the weeks of this season's "The Ultimate Fighter" continue, I am more and more reminded of how much I would really appreciate knowing more about the process of how the fights are selected but more importantly - what criteria, status hurdles and INFECTIONS do to play havoc with the process of the show overall. It's another part of the game that The Ultimate Fighter could provide fans, potential fans and more. Will we see more of it? Is the program fated to repeat some of the same mistakes in previous seasons? We'll find out as we begin this 8th week review of The Ultimate Fighter for THE SAVAGE SCIENCE!

Suicidal Birds?

This afternoon while traveling home from work, an event happened for the second time this week. Could it be that I have something "special" inside of my car? Might the whistle of my 2005 Trailblazer's grill be "calling" birds to their doom?

That's right - SUICIDAL BIRDS.

I don't even think I'd have mentioned it, but for the second time in a week, I've had a bird fly (first) right into the side of my truck, and then the second one right into the grill of my truck on the way home in my subdivision in the outskirts of St. Louis. Only a feather was left somehow lodged into the grill of this most recent avian.

Has anyone else had trouble with things like this? Tell me more!
