Down With the Sickness...
Anti-virus software is something that I cannot be a larger advocate of. I also know that as of the end of January this year, I stopped using McAfee Anti Virus software because after almost 11 months of being supplied with double the money they were due from me (having two subsriptions at the same time from the company), and then telling me "too bad" after verifying that I had paid double for a one year subscription for my one Email machine, this note made my ears perk up this evening:
"McAfee Update Breaks Hundreds Of Apps"
For over five hours Friday, McAfee's anti-virus software erroneously flagged hundreds of legitimate executables as a malicious virus, leading some customers to quarantine or delete the offending files and render applications such as Microsoft Excel inoperative.

Let there be no misunderstading: I totally advocate the use of anti-virus software but do not recommend McAfee at this time. I would recommend the use of something called "Bit Defender" available from the link here. It's free (check the ultra-effective version 8 of the software in the downloads section), it's easy to download to your PC, and offers state-of-the-art protection.
Click the link below to learn more of McAfee's recent blunder from Information Week and whatever you do - do not go without anti-virus protection on your PC.
What kind of protection do YOU use on YOUR PCs/computers at home?
