A Review of the Wentzville Missouri Chamber of Commerce - February 2010

Meetings.

They can be the stuff that makes your blood run, or boil. The people that lead them can offer up inspiration, or send you into personal bedlam. It's not easy to know sometimes when the good meetings that are going to provide you with additional "somethings" are going to be held, but the second week of each month in mid-Missouri has an offering that you will not be disappointed in.

The Wentzville Chamber of Commerce General Meeting is one of those experiences that allows you to get there, get fed, and learn not only about the people that are there to speak, but about the people around you. Today, I had the pleasure of attending the Wentzville Chamber of Commerce General Membership Meeting and it was a great one.

I arrived at the Progress Park Banquet Hall and quickly secured a seat. The food offered was something special for a lunchtime meal that included perfectly grilled skinless BBQ chicken with sauce that was just sweet enough to make the mouth water. Toss on some tasty cheddar cheese whips and real bacon shavings and you have a main meal entree' that's hard to beat. They also had some of the best rice I've ever had that I'll have to get some kind of recipe for. It was light but still filling, with shavings of corn, celery and a clever mix of other ingredients that made me anxious for the next bite. Toss in ice-cold ice tea and soft delectable chocolate-chip cookies for the wrap up and wow - call me satisfied with food!

As the meeting approached the speaker's section, I was very anxious to hear from a man named Mike Bounds, who was the former President of the Wentzville Chamber of Commerce, who was providing us with a sadly abbreviated presentation on understanding more about leaders, team building and the way people "think" and should think about business interaction. Mike is an incredibly personable speaker, and offers a wealth of information that was clearly conveyed. It's also clear to see that while we only had just over 20 minutes available, the amount of information he had to present could have filled 2 days completely. It's great to see someone in business for themselves, who isn't afraid to showcase things that AREN'T inside the box, that lead people to be creative and want to be energetic. Mike provided the seeds for those thoughts and I can't wait to talk to him more for our upcoming Business Channel Podcast series interviewing businesses of all kinds around us. Make sure you check out more about Mike and his business via his website at http://www.mikebounds.com

In the future if YOU have a free afternoon, and are looking for an organization that CLEARLY wants more membership, but has a TON to offer, don't miss out on the next of many meetings, team events, and offerings from The Wentzville Chamber of Commerce. Find out more about them via their website at http://www.wentzvillechamber.com and tell them that 2GuysTalking sent you!
